Overview

Please note that all necessary and relevant documentation not in English must be officially translated and be accompanied with the originals.


The documents required are:

·          Birth certificate

·          Copies of passport pages.  The pages showing your photo, names, date of issue

·          A letter stating your full names, addresses & occupations and also providing the same information for your parents. See Sample HERE  You can use this as a blue print for yours

·          An affidavit sworn before a lawyer confirming you are single and free to marry.  See Sample HERE  You can use this as a blue print for yours

·          Two passport style photographs each

 

THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS ARE ONLY NEEDED IF THEY APPLY TO YOU:

If you have had your name changed you will need to show legal proof of this, and should be certified by a lawayer

If widowed - death certificate(s) of former spouse and previous marriage certificate(s)

If you are adopted - legal adoption forms

 

Please be advised that wedding ceremonies can be arranged and conducted by the registrar all year long except on the following days

· All Tanzanian Public Holidays

· Good Friday

· Easter Monday

· Christmas Day

· New Year’s Day

· Between 20th Dec to 3rd Jan

Anglican Wedding

If you are planning to have an Anglican wedding, the following will be required by the church in addition to the basic requirements in the overview section

    * Birth Certificate

    * Certificate of Baptism. (This is essential for all church weddings)

    * A statement that both the bride and groom are single

    * Letter from their parish indicating that the guests have fulfilled all requirements for to the marriage within the

    * Anglican Church and that the parish has no objections to the marriage

Catholic Wedding

If you are planning to have an Catholic wedding, the following will be required by the church in addition to the basic requirements in the overview section

    * Birth Certificate

    * Letter of consent from the parents (or other family elder if the parents are deceased)

    * Letter from their parish indicating that the guests have fulfilled all requirements for to the marriage within the Catholic Church and that the parish has no objections to the marriage. This should also indicate that they have received their 1st Communion as well as Confirmation.

Muslim Wedding

A Muslim wedding will only be possible if the bride’s father or brother is present. Both of them must be Muslims. If they were not originally Muslims, but just converted from another religion, a conversion certificate is required. Also, the name of the person who converted them plus his or her contacts.

 

These conditions are in addition to the basic requirements as mentioned on the overview page.
