Overview
The name local dialect means “dark”. When you arrive at the forest you actually understand why the forest is impenetrable. The canopy gives it that aura. The beautiful thing about the forest is that it has remained untouched all these years. From the rainforest to the deep river gorges its very natural.Another important feature is the sounds you hear from the rooftops and swamps which make for very lovely listening of nature.
The park is a naturalists’ paradise from the trees to the 23 family units of gorillas. The park is also blessed with over 350 species of birds. You can also experience great nature trails which are hilly and sometimes muddy which is obviously the price to pay to go gorilla trekking but the result is always truly worth it.
